After the guide wires are installed you re ready to hang your string lights. Place planters upside down on a drop cloth and cover completely with spray paint. Mark the spots on the trees and drill guide holes. For maximum support use a zip tie on either side of each socket in lieu of using the loop on the socket.

Create a romantic spot by twisting a string of white lights around a cluster of trees in your backyard. Wipe planters clean with a damp cloth. Work your way across the yard to hang the string lights between mounts following the pattern you envisioned. Then secure each light to the cable using zip ties remember how many you counted in the previous step.

Most commercial grade patio lights come with clips attached to the top of the bulb socket or the wire above the bulb. Once you have all the strings hung and connectors secured you just simply add the lights back in. As you can see above the cord is secured by the staple opening. Secure lights with zip ties start at the end where you plug in your lights and use a zip tie to secure the first bulb to the eye hook to keep the strand in place.

Drill guide holes on the trees where you want to hang the lights. Apply additional coats as necessary for full coverage.
