Decide where the rain chain will be hung and install a downspout outlet in the gutter in the desired location. If using an existing downspout remove the downspout from the exterior of the house and paint exposed coupling to match the gutter if necessary. For the end of the chain where it meets the ground you ve got options. Release the chain and let it hang from the gutter.

Add a bead of silicone on the bottom of the gutter installer plate before installing. If additional length is needed attach a second rain chain and fit to desired length. Using the hole saw drill a hole in the gutter where you want the rain chain to hang. Inside the gutter hole insert the gutter bracket or v hook.

Hang the rain chain. Dig a hole slightly wider than the width of your pot and at least 6 deep directly underneath the downspout outlet. Once you know the length remove the existing downspout. From there attach your rain chain.

Fill the hole with the stone. Flip the pot upside. Always use extra care when working on a ladder. Hang the rain chain using the pin and not the additional hook that was provided.
